Episode #8 Goodbye Island

Dear Fellow Castaway,

In this episode we see the #4 minnow appear for the first and last time. This was a special minnow created by the prop department to fall apart on cue. This is the episode where Gilligan discovers a tree sap he intended to use as a pancake syrup instead is the perfect glue. Or is it? In true Gilligan fashion the glue he discovers has a half life of a few days and there after simply becomes dust. The boat repairs are faulty and the Minnow falls completely apart in the closing scene. Not too much cargo to speak of in this episode, mainly Lovey Howell supplies most of the weight in this segment. Until the next one! Aloha!

Episode #07 The Sound of Quacking

Dear Fellow Castaway,

Finally we get to an episode with a dream sequence. Sadly only 13 lbs are added by this episode. Most of it being a dream of the wild west kind. A few notes of interest. In this episode we see ginger wearing something new. A dress, cut much like her other yet made from material with the letters S.S. Minnow stenciled on it. Not sure what on the minnow would have been stenciled and fabric, but none-the-less a rare Ginger wardrobe change. It should also be noted that there is a mention of "Olives" in this episode. Surely from stock of the Minnow, but since they are never really seen I will not be counting them or the jars they came in. Have to draw a line somewhere. Until the next one...Aloha!

Dear Fellow Castaway,

This is the episode where Gilligan becomes president of the island and actually ends up doing a better job at running the place then the others. In this episode we also see the first use of the "looking at the audience through the camera" shot. Both Skipper and Ginger will turn to the camera and say something clearly just for the audience. This is a great episode, a real classic if you are a true fan of the show. It comes up very light on the weight due to concerning itself mostly with the guest star who plays Wrongway the pilot. A few episodes ago they mention that they have searched the entire island. Yet here Gilligan finds a plane hidden in the brush as he is collecting fruit. The pilot played by Hans Conried has lived on the island for decades. Needless to say the plane leaves the island and arrives in Hawaii but no one believes the crazy pilot. Episode #04 Goodnight Sweet Skipper

Dear Fellow Castaway,

This episode is on the light side as well. Bringing in a mere 43 lbs. The episode centers on the Skipper dreaming aloud while sleep walking. In his sleep walk he recalls a time in the war where he converted a radio into a transmitter. Gilligan hears this and tells the professor. Did I mention there is a random plane piloted by a woman doing an around the world solo flight that is transmitting to anyone who can hear from her plane? No? Well there is. This give the Professor the idea to get the Skipper back asleep and sleep walking in order to get the instruction to refit the radio as a transmitter in order to contact the pilot lady who will be flying overhead in a matter of hours. Long story short Gilligan ruins the day and they are still on the island, just with 43 more pounds to account for.

This episode does not have many costumes, but does add some weight to the tally via some supplies in the form of canned beans and a flare gun with flares. It is mentioned by the professor that they have 150 (3 cases of 50 each show later) of flares. They are shown marked as M-194C Flare Signals. They are stolen by a chimp that appears on the island but are retrieved just in time to get destroyed by Gilligan. We also find that they have a pistol (6 shot revolver) with 4 bullets. They run out by episode end. Enjoy!
